Actually i think they might used the shield. I mean even if they cut of the hand/arm, the shield should probably still work.

then it would reflect pop spell right? thats why he was scared to cast it at start

if they used it, it would be midflying cause otherwise the spell wouldnt leave such a damage behind

It's a flesh wound. He might've looked like he was in incredible pain and struggling to breath, but just like the last time he got a big hole in his chest, or that time he literally fell into lava, or the time before that when he was defeated by Dai and Popp and lost his eye, Crocodine just does not die, even if he really should be dead several times over.

The fight was so anticlimactic as hell

They didnt even show Popps attack hitting them properly

Also the CGI fight scens were random and pretty bad

I loved how Popp lead the team and assigned them who they should fight, just like a Leader. Popp’s plan worked smoothly with his most dangerous attack.

This episode was definitely ment for Popp and it made him pop out in a good way. Just looking forward for when he can master that attack.

what a WONDERFUL, THRILLING EPISODE!!! such an amazing fight, beautiful teamwork, beautiful tactics, and beautiful leadership shown by all. i kinda feel like the royal guard aren't dead yet cause that was anti climatic. but i am still completely satisfied with the fight. 😍💖

next episode kinda feels like a filler episode but we never know. so looking forward to it. hope this anime runs for a long time. 50th episode mark coming soon. 😁😁

Honestly if it was me, I'd put Popp vs Queen, Maam vs Pawn, Hyunckel vs Knight, Dai vs Bishop and keep Crocodine vs Rook. Definitely doesn't feel like all the chess pieces are dead even Medroa is very deadly.

.....Why in the world did Popp think swinging his staff would have any effect? He KNOWS that they're made of orichalcum, so should he honestly be surprised when his weapon breaks? Popp does some real questionable things in this series...

On another note I like how the queen elaborated that Hym wasn't the "weakest" due to being the pawn piece, but rather how all of them specialize in one area and that his was hand to hand combat (like how a pawn can only move one space at a time and take other pieces adjacent to it). It gave the royal guards a bit more depth and establishes that they should all be around the same level overall.

Pawn can also turn into any other piece when it reaches the other side of the board 😉
